Maryland state parks

Managed by Maryland Park Service (DNR). These are statewide rules; individual parks may post stricter ones. Federal land inside Maryland follows federal rules, and drones also follow FAA rules.

Metal detecting Designated areas only

Detecting for modern coins and jewelry is allowed on designated swimming beaches (except Point Lookout and Calvert Cliffs) with Park Service permission, and not 9 a.m. to dusk from May 30 through Labor Day. Other detecting needs a Maryland Historical Trust/DNR permit.
